The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulates the quality and safety of a wide range of industrial, electronic, and consumer products sold in India. At Affluence, we assist manufacturers — Indian and foreign — in obtaining the relevant BIS licenses and registrations, and further offer end-to-end advisory and compliance support across the following schemes
Under Scheme‑I, BIS grants a license to use the ISI mark after evaluating the manufacturing facility, testing products, and conducting factory inspections. BIS also performs ongoing surveillance to ensure continued compliance. This scheme covers a large number of industrial and consumer products.
Examples
Scheme‑II (CRS – Compulsory Registration Scheme) is a registration-based scheme where manufacturers submit product test reports from BIS-recognized laboratories and provide a self-declaration of conformity. Factory audits are generally not part of the standard process. It is widely used for electronics and IT products.
Examples
FMCS (Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme) is a certification scheme operated by the Bureau of Indian Standards that allows manufacturers located outside India to obtain a BIS license and use the ISI Mark on products that conform to applicable Indian Standards.
