The Central Government has notified S.O. 219(E), issuing the Cookware, Utensils and Cans for Foods and Beverages (Quality Control) Order, 2026, superseding the earlier 2025 order in respect of Wrought Aluminium Utensils and Aluminium Cans for Beverages. - General manufacturers: 1 October 2026
- Small enterprises: 1 January 2027
- Micro enterprises: 1 April 2027

Certification will be under Scheme-I of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Exemptions continue for exports, pre-implementation stock (with CA certification), filled cans, and limited R&D imports.
