SME IPOs and Mainboard IPOs are two different routes for companies in India to raise capital from the public markets. An SME IPO is primarily designed for small and medium enterprises seeking growth capital with comparatively simplified eligibility criteria, lower issue sizes, and listing on dedicated SME platforms of stock exchanges. A Mainboard IPO, on the other hand, is meant for larger and more established companies that meet stricter regulatory requirements and aim to access a broader investor base. While SME IPOs support emerging businesses in entering the capital market, Mainboard IPOs generally provide greater liquidity, visibility, and participation from institutional and retail investors.
